About Me

Charlene is a highly skilled bilingual counsellor fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, and Teochew, committed to delivering trauma-informed care and narrative therapy. She holds a Master of Psychotherapy and Counselling from Western Sydney University (2023) and a double degree in Bachelor of Science (Applied Psychology) and Bachelor of Philosophy from China (2016).With a deep understanding of human complexities, Charlene prioritises fostering a therapeutic space where individuals feel heard, understood, and connected to themselves—critical components for meaningful healing. She creates a secure and empathetic environment that empowers clients to explore their personal narratives, recognising that true transformation emerges from a foundation of safety and trust.Charlene has gained extensive practical experience through various placements, most notably at Women’s Space Darlinghurst. Here, she engaged in person-centred and trauma-informed practices, working closely with social workers to support individuals experiencing domestic violence, homelessness, ADHD, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, substance abuse, and complex trauma.Her experience extends to psychiatric hospital settings, where she developed a holistic approach to mental health care. Additionally, her educational placement in a high school provided insight into the emotional and academic challenges faced by adolescents, while her work as a university counsellor refined her ability to support students navigating academic pressures and mental health concerns. This breadth of experience underscores her adaptability and depth as a counsellor.Charlene integrates a diverse range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including narrative therapy, trauma-informed care, and emotion-focused therapy, helping clients articulate their experiences and develop a deeper self-awareness. Most clients meet with me in my welcoming Richmond space or online, while Saturday afternoons and evenings are reserved for South Yarra.
